First stepping foot in East Africa at the age of 3, Mark has dedicated his career to his second home.
Mark eventually became a lawyer to “add value and make a difference in multiple areas I wanted to pursue. I was always a balance of right/left brain, which could be seen as problematic at times between the creative and analytical. But I never wanted to just do one thing. I saw my mentors (who were also lawyers) take on political world, business, creative arts, philanthropy, foreign affairs, and real estate. They were doing it all. This was appealing to me. I’ve always wanted take on multiple career paths over the course of my career. Thankfully, this open approach has led me into interesting rooms and I’ve been lucky to surround myself with some really influential people…and of course…along with some failures on the way.”
(2016-2020) — Following law school, Mark’s interest in making an impact on the continent of Africa brought him to becoming focused international law, foreign affairs, and international humanitarian law. While working with African focused consulting firm Damina Advisors, he advised clients such as the United Nations, United States State Department, and African based corporations on various political, legal, and policy based issues. By promoting business in Africa, he felt like this was a the greatest way for countries to truly become unreliant on Western aid. He eventually moved on to worked for Deloitte as a legal consultant working on various impactful projects and cases.
(2020-present) — Mark is the former CEO and current partner of Nomad Africa, East Africa's premier travel media company. During the tumultuous time of 2020-2022, Mark alongside Purple Elephant Ventures, sought out to grow the company into the “Conde Nast of Africa”. Along with his dynamic team, they grew Nomad Africa from a leading travel magazine into a African travel agency, digital media, and travel journalism business. He worked alongside brands such as Land Rover, Hilton, Sheraton and Kenyan Airlines.
Using his experience in international law, journalism and media, Mark has focused on shedding light on untold stories in TV and Film as a producer. He currently is a producer for Mbuntu Media, a production company looking to tell factual stories that are impactful to global conservation, community, and investigative in nature. Currently he producing projects based in New York, Kenya, South Africa, Suriname, and Canada.
